2 Big Benefits of Team Building Events in a Recession - 29/03/10 |
The main goals of team building are to improve productivity and motivation. There is no greater need for motivation than now to produce significant benefits with your team. Morale is low in many companies, following redundancies and difficult trading conditions. Now is the best time to show your team that you appreciate their efforts, and create a bond which helps their productivity. Teambuilding activities are important. Not just for the immediate experience of the activities performed by the team, but for the group skills, communication and bonding that result. Taking employees out of the office helps groups break down political and personal barriers, eliminate distractions and have fun. We had a race night for our team from both kart circuits a couple of weeks ago – it worked really well, as many of the staff don’t know members from the other circuit, or on different shifts. We placed a member of the management team in each team, which was great for breaking down barriers and building relationships. After the event we had pizza and a few beers, and the atmosphere was fantastic, with a very lively prize giving ceremony. The on-going benefit has been great, as the team appreciate being invited to the event, I now know several of them a lot better, and there are still stories circulating about some of the ‘incidents’ on the track circulating. Different activities suit different companies, but it need not be expensive. Our activities vary from a night’s laser tag at £10pp to a full day of karting, lunch and paintball for around £80pp. |
